The Story
Spadger Finds His Way Home is a gentle and heartfelt children’s story about a little post pigeon who suddenly begins forgetting the addresses of the villagers he delivers to — the very friends he has visited for years.
Feeling confused and uncertain, Spadger sets off on a journey to find his way, using familiar sights, sounds, smells, and the kindness of others to help guide him home.
Inspired by my own Dad’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease and my 30 years working in dementia and social care, the story softly introduces themes of memory loss, compassion, and connection in a way that is warm, comforting, and hopeful for both children and adults.
Beautifully illustrated in a soft watercolour style, it is a standalone story about friendship, belonging, and the importance of helping one another when life feels uncertain.
